Rick wrote this around lunchtime:

My dear friend, fellow blogger and one of the best writers on the planet, Stephanie West Allen, has created something that will be of great interest to anyone who wants to improve their life by discovering their true aptitude. You can check out all the details in her blog and while you’re there do check out everything about this very talented entrepreneur!

Stretch!

Rick wrote this around lunchtime:

Here’s a nifty yet simple tool if you’re like me (or anything close) and spend way too much time with your face in front your computer screen. We all know that repetitive stress and eye strain can become a significant problem but most of us keep typing or surfing away and do nothing about taking small breaks. So, if you spend hour after hour staring at a monitor download this little gizmo as a reminder to Stretch. Just Save it to your desktop and click to set the reminder interval. Piece of cake!

Thanks to my great friend and noted Internet marketing expert, Paul Meyers, for sending this along.

For all my American readers, please enjoy a happy and safe Memorial Weekend!

Gonna Go Walkin’

Rick wrote this just before lunchtime:

I just created another Category for my posts called My Music. I spent most of my adult life writing songs and producing demos and finished records. Thought it would be interesting to share some of my music with you from time to time.

If you download the MP3 file below you might recognize the music as that which plays behind my voice in my podcasts. Jennifer and I have started our daily walks together and I thought it would be cool to have you listen to the actual song, with vocal, called Gonna Go Walkin’. So, click here and put some moves in your shooz:-)

Keeping in mind that this is purely a song demo (in other words, NOT a real record for radio), I’d love to hear what you think of the song. Please post your comments below.

Cookin’ at Home Tonight

Rick wrote this in the late afternoon:

Call me crazy but I’m down in the kitchen this afternoon on this first warm, sunny day of spring, prepping some lean ribs from the butcher and whipping up some of that super BBQ sauce I gave you the recipe for a few weeks ago, when this song I co-wrote and recorded in Nashville with my great friend and talented singer, Jules, sprang to mind. Thought you might wanna try a lil’ cookin’ at home tonight!:-)

Homeward Bound

Rick wrote this in the early morning:

Headin’ back home to Windsor with my much better half, Jennifer, in tow tomorrow morning. Going to visit my mom, my eldest daughter, Sara, and fabulous grandsons, Corbin and Cameron, my sisters, Dee and Lisa, and I’m also going to drop my blowed up PC to my computer doc. The smell of baking banana bread filled the house this morning as Jenn got up extra early to make one of her specialties to bring to my mom. Yummy!

Will be with Larry (my music and Internet partner) and Jenn and Sara at a Daniel Victor performance tomorrow evening and am really looking forward to that. Larry is leaving on yet another vacation next week (he just got back from a 10-day island cruise) and is leaving me behind once again to man the fort. Wait until he finds out what I have planned for the summer!:-)

Jenn’s daughter, Ashton, is taking a trip too - to France - leaving in a few hours. Gimme a break - I never got to take a March break trip like this when I was a highschooler! One thing I know, it will be pretty quiet around here next week:-)

Thought I’d leave you with a piece I recorded awhile back called the Legacy You Leave. I hope you enjoy it, and . . .

. . . have a super weekend!

Whatever I Can

Rick wrote this in the late evening:

You may or may not know that I spent most of my adult life in the music business - as a songwriter and eventually as a music publisher and record producer. Divorce, Canadian style, took me out of music, and in 1997, I was forced to find some other way to make my living. I then discovered the Internet. No regrets, of course, as I have been abundantly blessed and I am now able to share some of what I had created in the past with people I could never have otherwise reached, had it not been for the Internet.

I will share with you, from time to time, some of what I created in my musical past, and this is one of those times. It’s a song that KC, of The Sunshine Band fame, actually called me about well over a decade ago. It’s called Whatever I Can, and you can download the MP3 here.

I hope you enjoy it.
